The Gujarati government and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) founded the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) at Gandhi Nagar. The first public health university in India, University was founded in 2008 and is approved by the UGC. The Indian Centre for Academic Rankings and Excellence (ICARE) has rated the university as a 3 star institution in the "University" category, based on comprehensive performance indicators specified in the Gujarat State Institutional Ratings Framework (GSIRF), 2023.
The Gujarat-based University provides degree and diploma programs in public health, hospital administration, and related fields. It provides an M.Sc. with 2 specialties, a Master of Public Health, and a Master of Hospital Administration. In addition to training programs, the institute offers e-learning and on-campus programs. University has a record for placing all of its students.
